How do I get to Westlake dance center?

We are located in the Northgate area, one block east of Northgate mall behind the Gene Juarez Beauty Academy. For more information, please see the Directions page.

When can I start?

We are a drop-in studio — you can begin at any time.

What level should I take if I haven't had much dance or haven't danced in a while?

It is always better to start with a lower level class since they are still fun and challenging and you can move up or down when ever you would like to. Then, you can get used the the teacher and style and not get discouraged if it doesn't all come together the first few classes.

What age are dancers at Westlake?

We are predominately an adult age studio. We have junior high age through mature adults.

Our policy is dancers need to be 12 or older.

What should I wear?

Hip hop attire is mostly loose fitting clothes, athletic shoes; jazz attire is jazz pants, sweats, etc, jazz shoes; ballet attire is similar... ballet slippers, socks or bare feet.

Do you have performances?

We have our main show "Sign of the Times" the end of January, beginning of February at Shorecrest performing theater. Staff choreography is set on students at the studio. There are several hip hop groups based out of Westlake Dance Center by the name of "Cruz Control", "Breed" and others. "In effect" is a hip hop company that holds auditions for members. Performing group is for advanced jazz dancers ages 14-20. Performing group has their own show in the spring, competes in local and national competitions and performs in Westlake's annual show, "Sign of the Times".

How can I pay?

Visa, MasterCard, cash or checks are accepted.

Do I need to register?

We have a brief waiver to fill out and that is all.

Is there parking?

There is plenty of free, well lighted parking in front of the studio.

How large are the classes?

Average size class is around 15. Hip hop classes can be quite a bit larger.

Can I observe a class before I attend?

Yes, we have windows for viewing the class.
